Always switched around between cappuccinos and lattes at Rex and loved it the first few times I ordered, but later found it more milky and diluted than I’d like it. Rex feels like it’s one of the cheaper coffee options on ANU - probably because of its discounts available on Pegs, though however they’ve recently discontinued their partnership with Pegs. Their croissants are absolutely marvellous, nothing like their hot cappucino and chocolate croissant on a cold morning in Canberra!

Started a new job at ANU this year and Rex quickly became my morning ritual. The coffee is wonderful and the atmosphere is lovely. I stop by for lunch sometimes too. The almond croissant (toasted) is my weakness and the reason why I am broke.

Update (Jul 24): Well something has happened here. Probably had the best service ever here. The staff were really friendly and the coffee was good. Guys, whatever you did to make this place cheerful again, and the staff happy, keep it going :) Will come back :) Old review (Jan 24): I had to throw away a $4.50 takeaway because the cup and the lid and cup were smelling of something I shall not say here. Really, really, really gross.... You're better off going to the Lab or Otto's around the corner! These guys almost always are super grumpy too. Seriously, go to The Lab or Otto's instead!

Such good value of you're used to off-campus prices. The staff are fabulous, professional and so quick. Coffee is beautiful. Child friendly after swim class too.

Situated in the Kambri area of the Australian National University, Rex Espresso offers great coffee both hot and cold, pastries, slices and other delicious treats. There are decent seating options both inside and out. Eat in or have your order to go. Staff are friendly and the cafe opens late into the afternoon.
